A delicious collection of your favorite new healthy recipes and the most popular posts published in 2019!
Happy New Years Eve! I couldn't wait to carve out a few hours today to dig through analytics and review what recipes and posts you loved most this past year.
As much as I love to sit down in the first week of the New Year to create a vision for what's to come, I find it equally rewarding to do a full review of what happened in the previous year.
On the blog, I worked hard to provide content that you asked for in last years end of year survey, weeknight recipes, vegetarian recipes, quick and healthy, and more seafood recipes! Keeping you in mind I hosted my first ever themed week (#AKSeafoodWeek), I launched a meal planning series (that will continue in 2020), I shared some of my favorite quick and easy healthy weeknight meals (Thai Red Vegetable Curry and Easy Vegetable Soup), shared my obsession with hibiscus (Hibiscus Adaptogen Latte, Hibiscus Popsicles) and tahini (Tahini Date Truffles, Tahini Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie), showed up with serious pumpkin goodness (Pumpkin Parmesan Chicken, Pumpkin Peanut Butter Soup, and Pumpkin Caramel Sauce, and even managed to publish one travel update (Weekend in Sonoma) still have about 10 travel posts on deck 😉
Behind the scenes… I am still running my private nutrition practice in New York City. I share a beautiful office space in Union Square and feel so grateful to work one-on-one with so many incredible humans. I also had many opportunities to speak and teach this year on various nutrition and health topics, speaking is truly one of my greatest loves! I also run a nutrition supervision program, IFNS, for those with a master's degree in nutrition applying for the CNS (Certified Nutrition Specialist) credential. It has been an honor and a privilege to work with brilliant men and women that are making a difference in the health of others. (photo by Diana Davis Creative)
I was a guest on my first podcast this year and just found out that it was the most downloaded episode. Woohoo! You can have a listen here – The Healthy Work Podcast.
It was a busy work year, but I am always striving to strike a healthy balance. I am most proud of my 4 full weeks off this year, with no computer! I spent 2 weeks in Peru (I promise travel recap coming soon) and 10 days walking across Spain.
I was reminded this year how much work is involved in running a blog, I committed to carving out more time this year to this project, but as you can see I have a pretty full plate.
The thing is… I love this project. It is still very much a part-time endeavor, but also very much a labor of love. I love testing recipes, photographing them, and putting them out into the world for you to enjoy. I could never in a million years do this without you. I am so extraordinarily grateful for you. Thank you for visiting my site, making the recipes, commenting, and sharing. 2019 was a record-breaking year in regards to visitors to this site and that just makes me want to cry big fat tears of joy.
Ok, let's get on with it, shall we? Here are your favorite recipes and posts that were published in 2019 (in no particular order).
Mediterranean Sheet Pan Salmon with Zucchini Noodles
Mediterranean Sheet Pan Salmon with Zucchini Noodles, 15 minutes to a healthy delicious dinner! Paleo, Whole30, gluten-free, anti-inflammatory, good for you and delicious!
Vegan Creamy Enchilada Sauce
Jordan and I discovered enchiladas this year and I am shocked by my restraint to only post one enchilada recipe. This sauce though… IT. IS. EVERYTHING!
Pour it on these Vegan Brussels Sprout and Mushroom Enchiladas!
Mediterranean Roasted Shrimp and Orzo Salad
Seafood recipes were a huge hit this year! This is one of my easiest go-to summer recipes. Loaded with veggies, dill, and feta cheese.
Hibiscus Adaptogen Latte
After a happy amazon accident, I ordered about 100 lbs. of hibiscus flowers thinking I ordered 1/2 lb., I fell madly and deeply in love with hibiscus. Turns out, it has some pretty spectacular healing properties as well!
Red Cabbage Quinoa Stew
I firmly believe that cabbage is one of the best vegetables and does not get enough praise. Don't believe me? Just make this recipe.
Easy Smoked Salmon and Herb Frittata
Obsessed with this recipe, and it is perfect for New Years Day!
Feta Cheese and Olive Pull Apart Bread
Just take one look at this beauty and you can see why it's been a popular recipe, Christine said: “Abra, this is to die for. I remembered seeing this but never made it. Had a party to go to and planned to bring it but ended up not having time so it was all for us! Not ashamed to say that my husband and I ate the whole loaf. But we hiked today!”
I get it Christine! It is honestly one of my favorite recipes, I'm making this tomorrow for my family New Years Day brunch.
Matcha Avocado Smoothie
Once in a while, I'll share a recipe that is a gamble. I adore this recipe but if you are used to sweet smoothies it is a little jarring. This is a thick creamy savory smoothie and it is absolutely divine. I was tickled pink when I saw that it was one of the most popular recipes of 2019!
Spicy Thai Broccoli Salad with Peanut Dressing
The creation of this recipe goes down in infamy as the moment I discovered that spicy peanut butter dressing was practically made to be poured on broccoli cabbage salad.
Anti-Inflammatory Mediterranean Meal Plan
This is more of a collection of recipes than one particular recipe but it was above and beyond the most popular post of 2019. I have wanted to launch a meal plan series for years, I am beyond thrilled to know that you have loved it too. In addition to this Mediterranean meal plan I also published a Ketogenic meal plan and a high protein vegetarian meal plan. I have several new meal plans planned for 2020!
HONORABLE MENTIONS FOR 2019:
Butcher box review and review video – Yes, I share mostly plant recipes on here but I do eat animal protein and believe that understanding how to best source good quality protein is essential. There have been some requests for a follow-up video on taste and I have that on my 2020 to-do list!
Avocado Key Lime Pie – This was one of my favorite recipes of the year, hands down!
The BEST Ever Banana Bread – No, seriously, the best ever.
Thanks again for a glorious year.
