A collection of your favorite NEW healthy recipes from Abra's Kitchen in 2022 + my favorite picks from the year. It has become a yearly tradition, one that I look forward to, to look back and share the most popular posts from the past year.
It's my favorite post of the year! I love reflecting back on the past year of recipes here on Abra's Kitchen, I spend an afternoon with a warm cup of tea, digging into analytics and messages to see which recipes YOU loved, shared, commented on, and responded to.
2022 was a wonderful year full of change, and challenges (stay tuned for my full year in review post).
This year I focused on quality over quantity, with a far busier schedule including a full private nutrition practice, launching my first ever group nutrition program, and growth in all areas of my business I had to make some hard decisions about where I was spending my time.
I am so so thrilled to share that I have since hired a wonderful assistant, this has been a long time in the making and so so needed to keep Abra's Kitchen rocking and rolling.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a loyal reader of Abra's Kitchen. I couldn't and wouldn't do this without you. I spend most of my week deep in clinical nutrition supporting private clients and leading classes and seminars on the healing power of food. I come back to this blog as my creative outlet as the space to share with a wider audience just how awesome healthy homemade cooking can be. I love this blog, and I am beyond grateful for every recipe you have liked, shared, read, made, commented on, and loved. Thank you.
This year I updated the look and function of Abra's Kitchen, making it easier for you to find and search for your favorite recipes. 2023 will bring more updates, including more video!
Ok, let's get to the recipes. Here they are, yours and my favorite recipes from 2022 *in no particular order*
I hope you enjoy trying some of these favorite recipes from the past year. If you make any, be sure to leave a comment and rate the recipe. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. xooxox Abra
4 Healthy Homemade Salad Dressing Recipes to Master!
Well, this one was a surprise! The video I posted to accompany this post (dressing a salad the way my grampa taught me) went viral on Instagram and brought so many new wonderful readers to Abra's Kitchen. I consider this post a “healthy basics” post and I am so so happy that it resonated with over 400,000 of you!!!
Lemon Rice Soup with Chickpeas
It should come as no surprise to my long time readers of Abra's Kitchen that I could easily turn this into a soup blog and I would never run out of recipes to post. Soup is my favorite, and it turns out to be your favorite as well. Thanks for loving this recipe as much as I do!
Crispy Shrimp Cakes
I wish I could tell you that every recipe that did well this year was a strategic move based on hours of SEO research and development, but that would be a total lie. This years recipes were 100% recipes that I dreamed up and wanted to make and then share, no strategy. Not the best strategy for growing a blog, but exactly what my tired heart needed. So when recipes did well this year I was tickled pink. Crispy shrimp cakes are just plain delicious and I recommend you make them.
Fragrant Turmeric Quinoa with Almonds
Y'all I made this quinoa 800 bazillion times this year. It was such a staple in my kitchen that my countertops are stained yellow, just ask Jordan, he would love to tell you how horrifically annoying that fact is 🙂 I love that you love this simple yummy recipe. It's 2022 and we are still eating quinoa – and that is good news!
Spicy 2-Minute Calamari
Wait, I am still floored by this one. I was convinced I would publish this recipe and it would flop, and then… AND THEN… you all loved it! This was the first time I ever made calamari and I will make it 100 more because it is 1) easy 2) delicious. Thanks for supporting my seafood obsessions 🙂
Creamy Tomato Soup (Vegan)
I was testing this soup recipe while my 15-year-old nephew Jonah was over. I gave him a bowl to try and he proceeded to eat the entire pot and then declare it was the best soup of his life and rub it in Jordans face that he couldn't have any. I have been making this soup since my personal chef days, it is perfect. Make it.
MY FAVORITE RECIPES FROM 2022
There are always recipes that are my favorites that may not make it to your list. This doesn't make them any less amazing, they just not be as universally appealing.
Here are my all-time favorites from 2022.
Grilled Lamb Kebabs
This is a recipe within a recipe within a recipe. I took my time and posted every element of this gorgeous Moroccan-inspired meal. Grilled lamb kebabs in a Morrocan-inspired dry spice mix served over turmeric almond quinoa with a cooling cucumber radish salad. If you are interested in making one element of this meal may I suggest that you make the entire meal? It's a crowd-pleaser. I promise.
Rhubarb Chamomile Margarita
I wouldn't say this recipe didn't land with you but I would say that I liked it better 😉 When you make it you'll see why.
Ponzu Marinated Salmon Bowls
My mouth is literally watering looking back at this photo. I make a version of this meal weekly, its that good.
Brown Butter Sweet Potato Cake
I have been dreaming of this recipe for years. This is how I pass time, thinking of new recipes. I could not wait to bring this baby to the world. Isn't she gorgeous?
That's all folks! Looking forward to another delicious year in 2023!
