Superfood blackberry avocado smoothie bowl, you eat it with a spoon and then walk through the pearly gates of breakfast heaven.
I have been having a major love affair with blackberries lately. I honestly can’t get enough. It all started with an innocent sale on organic blackberries at the market across from my apartment. I bought one, then two, then three containers. Then maybe I went back for more.
Blackberries truly are the king of berries boasting the highest antioxidant count of any other berry. They are also so tasty, sweet and tart at the same time.
I’ve pretty much tossed them into everything I’ve been eating, then made a huge batch of blackberry mint smoothie starters, and then I started making blackberry avocado smoothie bowls.
Then the earth stopped moving.
Blackberry with a bit of chocolate and creamy avocado is a revolutionary breakfast. Super thick and creamy with crunchy raw cacao topping, hemp seeds, and more blackberries. It is also the perfect little after dinner treat when you are totally craving chocolate cake, but there is no chocolate cake, so you make a blackberry chocolate avocado smoothie bowl instead and realize you are completely satisfied.
This may or may not have actually happened.
Can we also just take a moment to note the gorgeous color of this smoothie bowl! Doesn’t it just make you feel royal to eat a bowl of gorgeous purple goodness? I had a very quick and very short 2-week break from grad school which ended today. As pumped as I am to dig deep into immunity imbalances and sports nutrition (the former is true, the latter is a total lie. Not sporty. Not my jam.) I am also fully aware of how much life/work/school balance I need. Yesterday I prepped a ton of healthy food to get me through the week and then I woke up this morning to my new favorite breakfast. I can do this. I can totally do this.
As I am swimming in the beauty of the color and taste and nutrition of my blackberry avocado smoothie bowl I am also setting my sites on school, again. I am officially at the grad school halfway mark, one year down, one to go! I am feeling so much more confident now that I have the-earth-will-stop-moving-when-you-eat-this smoothie bowl as my new companion.

- 1 cup fresh blackberries
- ½ avocado
- 1 tbsp raw cacao powder
- ¼ cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 cup ice
- 1 tsp hemp seeds
- 1 tsp cacao nibs
- ¼ tsp raw cacao powder
- fresh blackberries
- Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Should be super thick so you can eat it with a spoon.
- Pour into a bowl and top with superfoods
