Ready to kick off the summer season in style? Memorial Day is the official start of grilling season, typically lousy with hot dogs, hamburgers, cole slaw, and pickles. Is there room for some healthy deliciousness in all of this? You betcha!
Try these beauties on for size and kick unhealthy summer in the nether region, right where it needs it.
Food confession: I LOVE potato salad. Seriously, it may be one of my favorite foods. I did a pretty simple swap in this recipe, white potatoes for blue. Blue potatoes have 3x the antioxidant power of white potatoes and taste just as earthy and delicious. Try this festive salad at your next BBQ! Get the recipe here.
This recipe comes from the gals over at Diets in Review, turkey burger sliders with feta cheese, roasted red pepper, and a blueberry glaze. OK! Grab the recipe here and read a bit more info on the benefits of red, white, and blue food here.
Nothing says summer like strawberry shortcake, in fact, there were many hot summer nights in my early 20’s that I would eat only strawberry shortcake for dinner. I may not suggest that type of behavior nowadays, but I would highly recommend trying this recipe.
See, I’m not a total stiff I do love a beer at a summer BBQ and this one happens to be my favorite. A micro brew from Long Island New York, Blue Point Brewing Companies Blueberry Ale, is quite literally the perfect pairing for nearly all BBQ fare. I love it with my smokey salmon kebabs.
