It should come as no surprise that I am a smoothie girl. I really love a crazy green concoction either in the morning or afternoon as a quick pick me up in between client sessions.
It can be challenging though to find the right protein add in’s. Let’s face it the protein powder world is totally overwhelming and feels like it is either designed for muscle-body -building-non-stop-gym-going-peeps, OR highly educated nutrition nerds that know exactly what Astragalus and Spirulina are. (I am a nutrition nerd, and I LOVE Astragalus and Spirulina, this hasn’t made my quest for a protein powder any easier…just sayin’).
I do have my superfood shelf that has many plant options to amp up my smoothies antioxidant content and protein content, but there are some days I don’t have time to be a mad smoothie scientist and I want a quick add in so I can get my smoothie groove on and hit the road!
The folks over at Skoop kindly sent me a sampler of their products, here is what I thought:
I fell a little bit in love with B Strong, It’s true. I also happen to love their marketing. How cute is the label?!? It is also super informative, clearly listing all ingredients and WHY the ingredients are in there. Huh, that’s a novel idea isn’t it! So yes, you may see Astragalus on the label, but Skoop makes it easy to understand each and every ingredient. I like that. A lot.
B Strong is a vegan protein powder that boosts a whopping 16 grams of plant based protein per serving. A blend of pea protein and brown rice protein with an amino acid profile similar to eggs. It is soy, gluten, and dairy free so PERFECT for my clients with dietary limitations or allergies.
Here is the best part, I have NEVER found a protein powder that I can truly just mix with water, shake, and go. I can with Skoop B Strong. I too have days that are crazed, when if feels like a challenge to just get out the door. I’m just like you 😉 Well on those days, I can throw this powder into my shaker bottle, add water (and ice, I like everything cold), and off I go! I don’t do this often, by the way, but it’s good to know I have a solution for when I need it.
I also made a super yummy Raspberry Green Tea Smoothie, you can grab that recipe here.
I love the vanilla flavor and honestly friends, I feel much better when I add protein to my smoothies. I stay full longer and have more sustained energy.
A Game is a high antioxidant blend of fruits, veggies, probiotics, fiber, and adaptogenic herbs. It has the antioxidant equivalent of 10 servings of fruits and veggies. Adaptogenic herbs help your body better handle stress and fatigue (we can all use that!)
This wasn’t my favorite, it was a little too sweet for me. I tried to just do a quick blend with water to grab a fast dose of greens but I found it way to sweet. My solution? I use half the amount recommended. This way it lasts longer and I still get a quick dose of nutrients. I always prefer to actually eat my greens, juice my greens, or throw them into my smoothie, BUT when I am traveling I always have a greens powder in my suitcase. I currently have 15 single serving sticks of A Game reserved for my next adventure!
You can grab this cute 5 pack of daily greens for only $2.50!!! 5 servings for $2.50!!!! I mean seriously cheaper than a green juice in NYC! I love a good bargain.
All in all I have to give Skoop the Nutritious America Stamp of Approval! They passed the test on taste, quality, value, and nutrition. Way to go Skoop!
They have single serve options for all products, so grab a sampler and let me know what you think!
Disclaimer: I was not compensated for this post. Products were sent to me free of charge, but the opinions on taste, and power are purely my own. As usual 😉
